Two Whole Years

It's hard to believe that it's been two years since Owen was born. What really blows my mind is the fact that he was only about 7 months old when we moved to California. Now he's a walking, talking wonder who keeps us thoroughly entertained.

Owen's birthday fell on a Saturday and my parents were in town, so we decided to throw a birthday party. We made it as easy as possible (pizza and cupcakes at the park) since Caelum was only two weeks old at the time. You probably recall that we didn't do anything for Owen's first birthday and I figured if we didn't do a party this year, we probably never would. It was fun to have him anticipating the party (OK, just the cupcakes) and to see him running around the park with cousins and friends. My parents were a huge help and picked up a giant balloon, tableclothes and the pizzas the morning of the party. I think it turned out great!
There were about 30 people there - including one very insulated two-week old who did great - and lots of little kids running around. The highlight was definitely singing happy birthday. We had been practicing with Owen so he started singing with us, then realized everyone had joined in. He was surprised to hear everyone singing to him!
